2058 N. Cleveland
Located in the center of Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood, 2058 N. Cleveland was in a state of disarray until recently. The exterior brick required chemical cleaning and
tuck pointing.
A search for photos and records of the building at the Chicago Historical Society resulted in a photo of the original façade. This photograph was used to determine the best solution for façade restoration, bays and cornice which had been poorly maintained and defaced with a fire escape.
The brick was carefully cleaned and tuck pointed. Special attention was paid to the spectacular terra cotta sculptures on the façade. Original metalwork in the cornice and bay areas was restored and or replaced and painted using historic colors. The storefront and entryway portion of the building were rebuilt, including new reproduction doors and restoration of all hardware.
